- Estructura: to be + past participle (+ by + agente)
- Compara: "The dog ate the food" (activa) vs "The food was eaten by the dog" (pasiva)
| Voz Activa | Voz Pasiva |
|---|---|
| The teacher teaches English. (La maestra enseña inglés) | English is taught by the teacher. (El inglés es enseñado por la maestra) |
| A thief stole my bike. (Un ladrón robó mi bicicleta) | My bike was stolen by a thief. (Mi bicicleta fue robada por un ladrón) |
| They built the house in 2020. (Construyeron la casa en 2020) | The house was built in 2020. (La casa fue construida en 2020) |
Estructura de la pasiva
Fórmula: TO BE (en el tiempo correspondiente) + PAST PARTICIPLE + BY + AGENTE
(diagram removed - ASCII diagrams not supported in TypeScript strings)
Construcción paso a paso
Cómo convertir activa a pasiva:
- Identifica el objeto directo (qué recibe la acción): "The teacher teaches English"
- Ese objeto se convierte en SUJETO: "English is taught..."
- El verbo se convierte en TO BE + PAST PARTICIPLE: "...is taught..."
- El sujeto original se convierte en AGENTE (con BY): "...by the teacher."
Resultado: English is taught by the teacher.
Pasiva en diferentes tiempos
La pasiva existe en TODOS los tiempos. Aquí están los más comunes en exámenes:
(Presente Simple)
| Activa | Pasiva |
|---|---|
| The company produces cars. | Cars are produced by the company. |
| They teach Spanish. | Spanish is taught. |
Estructura: am/is/are + past participle
(Pasado Simple)
| Activa | Pasiva |
|---|---|
| A thief stole the car. | The car was stolen by a thief. |
| We built this house in 2005. | This house was built in 2005. |
Estructura: was/were + past participle
(Presente Perfecto)
| Activa | Pasiva |
|---|---|
| Someone has broken the window. | The window has been broken. |
| They have painted the walls. | The walls have been painted. |
Estructura: have/has been + past participle
Future (Futuro)
| Activa | Pasiva |
|---|---|
| The government will build a new school. | A new school will be built by the government. |
| They are going to repair the roof. | The roof is going to be repaired. |
Estructura: will be / am/is/are going to be + past participle
Cuándo omitir el AGENTE (by + ...)
Muchas veces NO necesitas mencionar quién hace la acción. Omites "by + agente" cuando:
-
No sabes quién lo hizo:
- My car was stolen. (Mi coche fue robado — no sé quién)
-
No es importante quién lo hizo:
- The exam was held on Friday.
- English is spoken in Australia.
-
Es obvio quién lo hizo:
- The letter was mailed yesterday.
💡 Regla práctica: Omite "by + agente" si no aporta información importante.
Forma NEGATIVA
Para hacer negativa la pasiva, pon NOT después del TO BE:
| Ejemplo |
|---|
| The car is not repaired. (El coche no está reparado) |
| The house wasn't built in 2000. (La casa no fue construida en 2000) |
| The windows haven't been cleaned. (Las ventanas no han sido limpiadas) |
Forma INTERROGATIVA
Invierte el TO BE:
| Pregunta | Respuesta afirmativa | Respuesta negativa |
|---|---|---|
| Is the car repaired? | Yes, it is. | No, it isn't. |
| Was the letter sent? | Yes, it was. | No, it wasn't. |
| Have the walls been painted? | Yes, they have. | No, they haven't. |
Errores típicos del examen
❌ Incorrecto → ✅ Correcto
- The car is stolen by a thief. → ✓ (Esto está bien, pero mejor: The car was stolen by a thief. si pasó)
- The book is written. → ✓ (Está bien si alguien lo escribió)
- The car stolen by a thief. → The car was stolen by a thief. (Falta TO BE)
- The room is cleaning. → The room is being cleaned. (Necesitas "being" si está en progreso)
- The homework will written. → The homework will be written.
Pasiva con "by" vs sin "by"
CON by:
- The book was written by Cervantes.
SIN by:
- The book was published in 1605.
